Vultr Named a Major Player in IDC MarketScape for Worldwide Public Cloud IaaS

Vultr continues to gain recognition as a rising force in the global cloud computing and AI infrastructure landscape. Following its spotlight in the Omdia Universe: Cloud Service Providers, 2024 report, which examined Vultr’s strengths as a cost-effective and geographically diverse alternative to hyperscalers, Vultr has been named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Public Cloud Infrastructure as a Service 2025 Vendor Assessment.

The changing cloud and AI landscape

Enterprises are now looking for alternatives beyond the top three hyperscalers to support the growing demands of AI-driven workloads. The latest IDC MarketScape report underscores the shifting dynamics in cloud infrastructure, highlighting how independent cloud providers like Vultr are filling critical gaps in AI performance, cost efficiency, and global reach.

Why Vultr was recognized

We believe Vultr’s inclusion in the IDC MarketScape report cements its position as a compelling alternative to traditional hyperscalers. The report notes, “Vultr’s primary strengths lie in the company’s affordable and transparent pricing and the distribution of data centers, now spanning 32 locations. This reach enables Vultr to serve applications that require specific regional locations or low-latency connections. In addition, Vultr’s focus on performance and simplicity through high-frequency instances and bare metal offerings makes it practical for users who may not need complex infrastructure but value straightforward, reliable compute and storage.”

The report also notes, “Consider Vultr when optimizing the price and performance of AI workloads that range from training to inference.”

"As enterprises refine their cloud strategies for AI, optimizing price and performance across workloads – from training to inference – has become a key priority. Organizations evaluating cloud infrastructure options should assess providers based on their ability to deliver cost efficiency, high-performance computing, and geographic reach to support evolving AI demands," said Dave McCarthy, Research Vice President of Cloud and Edge Infrastructure Services, IDC.

Vultr’s momentum continues with growth, innovation, and partnerships

This recognition comes amid a period of rapid growth for Vultr. From securing new funding to launching advanced serverless capabilities for AI-driven enterprises and deepening its collaboration with AMD, Broadcom, and Juniper Networks to power high-performance cloud and AI workloads, Vultr is expanding its capabilities to meet the needs of businesses worldwide without the hyperscaler baggage.
