Vultr: The Infrastructure for Enterprise AI

With the promise of AI-enhanced productivity gains and concerns about AI-driven obsolescence, enterprise leaders implementing production AI strategies face tremendous pressure to get things right. Agentic AI deployments offer incredible potential, accomplishing long-term goals with minimal human oversight by leveraging existing tools and processes. Agents automate workflows, scale specialized capabilities, accelerate task completion, and more.

Yet, moving agentic AI strategies from proof of concept to adoption feels increasingly fraught. The old, familiar ways of building and managing IT and cloud infrastructure lock data and workloads into expensive, complicated, and proprietary infrastructure platforms that constrain choices and limit flexibility precisely when speed is essential. A new paradigm is needed.

Alternatives like standalone inference providers and neoclouds have emerged to combat legacy constraints, but they often introduce the risks of unproven security. When everyone has access to the same AI models, inputs from company data and intellectual property become the differentiator, and an enterprise’s data – its competitive advantage – must be protected from leakage and misuse at all costs. At Vultr, we frequently hear from enterprise leaders concerned about managing data security and privacy in their AI architectures. Are they in danger of disastrous data leakage? Can they trust that the IP they send to inference providers or closed-weight models will remain protected from misuse? Are their workloads secure on neoclouds that transitioned from crypto cowboys just a few short years ago?

Fortunately, there’s another option: AI models and infrastructure enterprises can control, enabling them to securely deliver AI applications with confidence. Open-weight models running on composable cloud infrastructure provide enterprises with the flexibility and choice they need to optimize their AI architectures, take charge of their tokenomics to maximize return on investment, and ensure full control over their data. The actual infrastructure management, however, is best left to a trusted partner, as enterprises can achieve results more easily and affordably than if they build and operate it themselves.

Enterprises need an AI infrastructure partner that:

  • Offers full-stack compute, networking, and storage solutions optimized for agentic AI workloads and more, ensuring the optimal infrastructure is available for both cloud-native and AI-native applications
  • Supplies self-service, high-performance GPU and CPU clusters with the flexibility to alter them at will, so enterprises can scale up, scale out, and scale globally without manual requests or configuration delays
  • Provides a global presence that enables placing workloads near end users for maximum performance and control over data residency, with data sovereignty options
  • Maintains a broad set of compliance and security certifications and attestations as part of a security-first, data privacy-first approach, with advanced identity and access management and security controls
  • Supports an open, composable ecosystem powered by open source technologies, ensuring enterprises can run their preferred choice of AI models and applications without fearing proprietary lock-in
  • Delivers a straightforward platform with predictable, transparent, and controllable economics

The trusted platform for enterprise AI

Vultr has a demonstrated track record of more than a decade providing reliable, high-performance infrastructure through a composable, open ecosystem that enables enterprises to deploy their preferred solutions without fear of lock-in. The Vultr cloud platform is a full-stack infrastructure offering with the latest-generation AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, scalable cloud compute powered by the latest data center CPU processors, high-speed networking, powerful storage solutions, managed Kubernetes, managed databases, and more. Self-service CPU and GPU clusters provide enterprises with the flexibility to configure their infrastructure as needed, without waiting for requested changes to be implemented. Vultr’s transparent and predictable pricing empowers enterprises to take control over their cloud costs, while an API-first approach and the simple Vultr Console make Vultr far simpler and more cost-effective to operate than traditional cloud platforms.

At its core, the Vultr cloud platform was built to be open, enabling enterprises to choose their preferred solutions and avoid being locked into proprietary infrastructure. Vultr readily supports multicloud architectures for those who want the best in enterprise AI infrastructure, but don’t want to migrate everything to a new platform. Support for popular Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including Terraform and Ansible, makes it simple to replicate preferred configurations, as does Vultr Kubernetes Engine, which supports the Cluster API. The Vultr Cloud Alliance offers a strong set of partner solutions, including providers that support the secure control and management of enterprise data and IP – DDN, NetApp, VAST Data, and more. In the Vultr Marketplace, a wide variety of commonly used open source technologies are available to simplify AI infrastructure deployments.

Unlike many providers in the AI infrastructure space, who have made security an afterthought in a rush to bring capacity to market, Vultr puts compliance, security, and data privacy and protection first. Vultr maintains an extensive set of security and compliance certifications and attestations, with support for ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, and far more. Working with enterprises globally, we know just how critical it is to control where data moves, too. Vultr’s 34 global cloud data center regions across six continents provide data residency and sovereignty options, helping enterprises deploy high-performance infrastructure near end users for low-latency performance while staying ahead of rapidly evolving regulatory requirements. It’s also easy to control who has access to which data and resources on the Vultr cloud platform. The enterprise-grade Vultr Identity and Access Management suite features fine-grained permissions that control access down to the individual instance level, and comprehensive audit logging to track what was done with each instance. An enterprise’s data is its competitive advantage in the AI era; build on a platform you can trust.

Delivering continual platform improvements

As part of our commitment to our customers, we are continually upgrading the Vultr cloud platform to offer more options, additional capabilities, and improved solutions. As enterprise AI needs evolve, we continue to enhance our offerings to provide the trusted infrastructure solutions our customers count on. Here are some notable features that have been recently released, or will be released soon:

Simpler self-service CPU and GPU clusters with Vultr Clusters: Enterprises need flexible cloud infrastructure to optimize both agentic AI performance and cost efficiency. Both CPU and GPU clusters are necessary; GPU clusters provide agents with the AI reasoning they need to make decisions, while CPU clusters orchestrate workloads and provide the sandbox space agents need to develop, test, and validate their solutions before taking action.

Vultr Clusters provides self-service GPU and CPU clusters, which are very simple and easy to provision and use. An upgraded interface in the Vultr Console will soon make it even simpler to provision and modify Vultr Clusters on demand. Automated provisioning ensures enterprise AI infrastructure can be adjusted as needed without wasting high-value compute capacity while waiting for manual configuration.

Agentic-ready cloud computing with Vultr VX1™ and Vultr Cloud GPU clonable block storage boot drives: Vultr VX1 Cloud Compute is well-suited for enterprise AI, featuring latest-generation CPU processors and rapid provisioning. Instances include native support for customer virtualization, enabling seamless deployment of isolated microVMs that securely run AI agent execution environments. Vultr VX1 instances can be booted either from local storage or Vultr Block Storage boot volumes that survive deprovisioning and enable customers to create new instances rapidly from a preconfigured image. These block storage boot volumes will soon be clonable, enabling enterprises to provision multiple instances simultaneously for greater flexibility.

Vultr Cloud GPU instances will also soon have this capability, enabling customers to quickly deploy Vultr’s recent-generation, high-performance virtualized GPU instances from a single validated image, accelerating cluster deployment and reducing time to value for agentic AI deployments. On instances that boot from Vultr Block Storage boot drives, local storage remains available for use as scratch space for AI workloads.

By using clonable block storage boot drives, enterprises can rapidly provision CPU-plus-GPU AI infrastructure to accommodate fluctuating demand while maximizing cost efficiency.

Enhanced federated identity and additional Vultr Identity and Access Management features: Vultr IAM delivers fine-grained control over user permissions. Straightforward controls simplify enforcing least-privilege access without adding complexity or sacrificing control over permission policies at the service, action, or resource level. Vultr IAM provides enterprises with the tools they need to securely control agent access to Vultr infrastructure, enabling agents to act when authorized and preventing them from accessing Vultr instances when not authorized.

Vultr has added support for OAuth and SCIM, and enhanced Audit Logs, making it even easier for enterprises to support federated identity management and track user activity:

  • SCIM support enables enterprises to provision and manage employee access to Vultr directly from the enterprise identity provider. Combined with Vultr’s support for SSO, it is now easier than ever to configure federated identity and manage the full user lifecycle using existing systems, streamlining access and reducing the potential for misconfiguration.
  • Vultr now also supports OAuth for authenticating third-party applications using an open-standard protocol built around secure, temporary tokens, a stronger approach than traditional API key authentication or passwords, which can be leaked or stolen. Administrators can register OAuth applications, manage their access via permission policies, and deactivate or delete them as needed.
  • Vultr Audit Logs are now available, tracking user and agent activities such as logins, Vultr Console interactions, and API requests, and delivering insights into usage, resource changes, and security. An enhancement to Vultr Account Activity, Vultr Audit Logs can be stored for up to 10 years and are charged based on the size of logs retained after an initial ingestion fee.

High-speed private networking through Vultr Cloud VPNs: The new Vultr Cloud VPN will be available shortly and will provide enterprises with a simple-to-use managed VPN service for connecting their workloads running on Vultr infrastructure to other data centers or client devices over the public internet. This enables enterprises to run their agentic AI operations on Vultr’s infrastructure with low-latency connections to employee workstations and existing applications running on-prem or in other clouds. Vultr Cloud VPNs provide a simple, robust, and affordable way to manage multicloud connectivity architectures. Like with Vultr’s standard egress over the internet, bandwidth will be charged at an extremely affordable $0.01/GB after generous per-instance free allocations are exhausted.

Enterprise-ready open ecosystem solutions on the upgraded Vultr Marketplace: Vultr is rolling out additional features to the Vultr Marketplace as part of an ongoing, comprehensive overhaul that will increase ease of use and broaden the range of available solutions. The Vultr Marketplace already offers a broad set of open-source solutions designed to make it easy for enterprises to architect their AI infrastructure with a wide range of options. New deployment upgrades make it even easier to get started in the Vultr Console, enabling enterprises to build their AI infrastructure their way while affordably and flexibly leveraging the collective innovations of thousands of developers powering open-source ecosystems.

Access support through the Vultr App for Slack: The Vultr App for Slack will be available in the Slack Marketplace soon. This app enables enterprises to create, respond to, and update Vultr Support tickets directly from their Slack instance, so they can get assistance with their AI infrastructure quickly without the delays and context-switching hassle that comes with transitioning away from their primary collaboration platform. More features will be available soon.
