The Vultr Open Source Credits Program: The Next Step in Supporting Open Source
Open source hasn't been a side project for Vultr. And today we're taking that commitment a step further with the Vultr Open Source Credits Program: direct infrastructure credits for the open source projects developers depend on every day.
Any project, any size, any kind. We don't require a foundation behind a project, a company backing it, or a launch that trended. If it's open source, under an OSI-approved license, and actively maintained, it's in scope, whether that's a solo-maintained library, a growing framework with a small core team, or load-bearing infrastructure nobody notices until it goes down.
Measured by impact, not noise. Every application is reviewed against the same published criteria: what the project does, who depends on it, how actively it's maintained, and how exposed it would be without infrastructure support. A project nobody's heard of gets the same review and the same response time as one everybody has.
Three Tiers, Reviewed Fast
- Starter (>=100 Stars) - $500/year: For single-maintainer projects running hosting, CI, documentation, or similar workloads.
- Growth (>=1000 Stars) - $2500/year: For active multi-service projects running small clusters, build fleets, or more demanding infrastructure.
- Flagship (>=10000 Stars) - up to $30,000/year: For high-adoption or mission-critical projects with significant infrastructure requirements.
Credits renew automatically as long as the project remains active and continues to meet the program criteria.
Support beyond the infrastructure. Supported projects also get access to Vultr's marketing channels: joint blog posts and case studies, amplification across our social channels and newsletter, feature placement at the conferences we attend, and a listing in our public directory of supported projects.
This is one more way we're showing up for the community that builds the software the rest of the industry runs on, and we're just getting started.
