Vultr at KubeCon 2025: Championing Cloud Innovation

Vultr had an incredible week at KubeCon in Atlanta, where the spotlight was on Vultr VX1™ Cloud Compute, our new enterprise-grade compute lineup delivering up to 82% better performance per dollar than efficiency-optimized hyperscaler instances. Developers, partners, and customers were eager to learn how VX1 brings unprecedented cost efficiency and flexibility to cloud-native workloads – proving that high performance doesn’t have to come at a high price.

Vultr VX1 takes center stage

A highlight of our presence at KubeCon was the attention drawn to our recently launched Vultr VX1 compute lineup. Designed to offer unmatched cost-efficiency and performance for cloud-native workloads, VX1 delivers up to 82% more performance per dollar compared to the most cost-effective hyperscaler plans. It’s optimized for core business workloads, such as web servers, SaaS platforms, microservices, databases, analytics, and development and test environments, where total cost and efficiency matter most.

VX1’s dedicated compute resources, broad software compatibility, and flexible sizing options (4–192 vCPUs) make it an ideal choice for businesses looking to reduce cloud spend without sacrificing reliability or scalability. Its energy-efficient design also uses 48% less power per vCPU than other Vultr plans, offering additional sustainability benefits.

Developers loved the Vultr Container Registry

One of the most talked-about Vultr products at the booth was Vultr Container Registry. Attendees were impressed by its ease of use and the ability to pull open-source images directly from Docker Hub. Many appreciated having a simple, affordable option that integrates seamlessly into their Kubernetes environments, without the complexity or cost of hyperscaler ecosystems.

Freedom to build in open, composable stacks

A recurring topic throughout the week was the growing preference among developers for open, composable infrastructure over building within proprietary, walled gardens. Vultr’s commitment to open-source technologies and community-driven architectures resonated strongly with attendees seeking greater independence and control over their workloads.

Cost efficiency that makes a difference

Developers were quick to compare costs and performance, and many were surprised at just how much more affordable Vultr is compared to the hyperscalers. With Kubernetes control planes on major clouds costing around $0.10 per hour – or roughly $74.40 per month – Vultr’s pricing (including a free Kubernetes control plane) and performance advantages stood out.

A spotlight on open and sovereign AI innovation

Beyond the show floor, Vultr CMO Kevin Cochrane joined #theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson, Rob Strechay, and AMD’s Aleks Shargorodskiy for a live conversation on how Vultr and AMD are powering the next era of open, sovereign, and scalable AI and Kubernetes workloads. The discussion explored how open standards, such as ROCm™, decentralized architectures, and sovereign cloud capabilities, are reshaping industries like healthcare and life sciences, enabling real-world AI breakthroughs that improve lives globally.
